What is Unwanted Subscription?
Unwanted Subscription is an iPhone and iPad app that finds recurring charges in Gmail, Outlook, or a bank statement, shows what they cost, and walks you through canceling the ones you do not use.
How does Unwanted Subscription find subscriptions?
You connect Gmail or Outlook with read-only access, or you upload a PDF statement. The scan looks for receipts and repeating merchant charges, then matches them to known brands such as Netflix, Spotify, Adobe, and hundreds of others.
Does Unwanted Subscription store my emails?
No. Receipts are read to detect subscriptions, then discarded. We do not keep message bodies, attachments, or a copy of your inbox. Your subscription list stays on the device.
Can it scan iCloud Mail?
No. Apple does not let third-party apps OAuth into iCloud Mail. Use Gmail, Outlook, or upload a bank or card statement instead.
Is Unwanted Subscription free?
The scan is free. Pro unlocks the full list of names, cancel guides, and renewal reminders. Prices are shown in the App Store before you buy.
Does Unwanted Subscription cancel subscriptions for me?
No. The app shows the merchant’s cancel steps and can open the billing page. You confirm the cancellation with Netflix, Spotify, Apple, or whoever bills you. That is safer and matches how those services actually work.
Is it safe to connect Gmail or Outlook?
You sign in with Google or Microsoft OAuth. Access is read-only: we cannot send, delete, or change mail. You can disconnect an inbox in the app at any time, which deletes the tokens on our servers.
What files can I upload?
PDF bank or card statements are sent to the server, read for recurring charges, and not kept after the scan. CSV files are parsed on the iPhone and are never uploaded.
Where does my subscription list live?
On that iPhone or iPad. Totals, reminders, and keep-or-cancel choices are not uploaded as a backup. Deleting the app removes the local list.
Which brands can it detect?
Streaming, music, software, gyms, news, VPNs, and more: Netflix, Spotify, Disney+, Hulu, Max, Adobe, ChatGPT, Apple, Amazon Prime, and hundreds of others. Unknown repeating charges still show up so you can decide what they are.
Do I have to connect Gmail or Outlook?
No. Inbox connect is optional. You can upload a bank or card PDF, or a CSV that stays on the iPhone. That is also the path if you only use iCloud Mail.
How do I find subscriptions billed through Apple?
On iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then tap Subscriptions. APPLE.COM/BILL on a statement is that list, not always Apple Music. Deleting an app does not cancel it.
Can Unwanted Subscription find free trials?
Yes. Trial receipts and $0 or $1 authorizations show up in a scan the same way paid plans do. Cancel before the date in the email or in Apple Subscriptions so the trial does not convert.
Who cancels a family or Duo plan?
The manager, organizer, or billing owner. Leaving the family does not stop Spotify Duo, YouTube family, Apple One, or Canva Teams.
Does it work if I am not in the United States?
Yes. The app is an iPhone product. Merchant prices and cancel pages vary by country. Treat the list and guides as a starting point and confirm on the local billing page.
