Annual subscriptions hide because they look like a one-off. One line on a January statement, nothing in February, then the same line next January. A 30-day PDF will miss them. Pull 90 days and search the PDF for the merchant name anyway.
The per-month trick
$120 a year is $10 a month until you do not use the product for eight months. Then it was $15 a month of actual use. Keep the plan only if you would buy it again tomorrow. That rule is in what unused subscriptions cost.
Early termination
Adobe Creative Cloud is the usual trap: billed monthly, contracted annually. Canceling early can mean a fee. Adobe shows it before you confirm. Read how to cancel Adobe. News sites and cloud storage are less likely to fee you, but they rarely refund unused months.
Cancel before the date
Search mail for “renews on.” Put a reminder a week before. Unwanted Subscription can remind you. If you only do this by hand, a calendar event on the statement date is enough.
